  • Heart Day

Well, we had a wonderful Valentine's Day.  Of course, nothing is very normal with us, so it was last Saturday.  I went to Norman to do our makeup test for Brooke's wedding and my mom & Grandmother met me there to take Addie for the night.  Well, I got my makeup done for free, had a fun time with the girls and got to try on my pretty dress.  Then I did some good shopping in Norman for V-day and for my house.  (I got a nice set of 3 lamps at Kirkland's.  Thanks Taralee for the Christmas present!)  Then I headed home.  I picked up around the house while Travis lounged and played PS.  I put new sheets on the bed and chocolates on the pillows.  We both took a shower and got ready to go to dinner.  We went to eat at Red Lobster, our favorite.  While we waited (and waited) to be seated we ran over to the mall to pick out my gift from Travie.  He said, "I am going to let you pick it out yourself, but you're getting jewelry and no arguing."  Okay, I could handle that.  So we head over to Gordon's and look around.  After a very nice & filling dinner, we went back.  I picked out a pretty and casual bracelet with a diamond charm.

children, home time, v day 035 children, home time, v day 036   It was on sale, too.  How awesome!!!  So then we head over to Living Word to look around, mostly at music.  And I comment on the Willow Tree figurines.  Trav asks me to narrow down my choices and then he asks the employee to get me the Child's Touch.

children, home time, v day 038 Then we head over to Bath & Body Works because their sale is about to run out.  So I pick out a few antibacterial soaps and Travis picks up a pair of The Sweetest, Softest Slippers in the World, or something like that.

children, home time, v day 037 And it's true.  I'm wearing them right now.  I love them!  Then we went to rent a movie, Stranger than Fiction.  We crawled into our comfy bed with clean, fresh sheets and watched the movie, and laughed.  We ate strawberries and cherries dipped in chocolate (also part of my gift) and had a GREAT evening.  Then, although I LOVE my baby, the next morning (Sunday) I got to wake up and only worry about me and my things on the way to church.  We had special guests so we didn't have as many responsibilities before Sunday School and we actually got to sit and talk with the grownups before church.  Overall, it was an amazing Valentine's Day.

Yesterday wasn't so bad but nothing special.  Addie and I went to the Higgins with Travis to help with some tile work.  Then we came home and relaxed.  We had a nice dinner and Travis went to work.  Here are some cute pics of Addie from yesterday, though.  Hope you enjoy.  LOVE all!

  • Such a joy

I know all parents think highly of their children, but really, Addison is brilliant!  I love Addie and watching her grow.  She is bright and funny and so social.  Each day is an adventure.  Now, she is surely NOT perfect, but I love watching her grow and learn.  Today, I asked her to pick her toys and things.  She began, in her language, singing my 'clean-up song' all by herself without any prompting.  I was so impressed.  Not only did she obey me, but she got into my silly encouragement.  She is such a joy.

  • Cry Me a River

Okay, I need to blow off some steam.  I am trying to distract myself from a crying, sleepy baby.  I put Addison down to bed at 7:30.  That's a little early, but she went to bed LATE last night.  So now it's 8:25.  I've gone in there twice to rock her and sing to her.  After the last time, I said very calmly, "It's late, it's dark, it's bedtime.  Night, night, Sweetie, I love you."  So, now I'm just waiting her out.  She's so good that moments like this pale in comparison.  But it does wear on my nerves.  I hate the thought of leaving her when she bawling with REAL tears.  I think I've made it worse by visiting her and trying to calm her down.  So now I've got to stick it out for the long haul or be prepared to rock her till midnight, which ISN'T going to happen.  Well, so goes motherhood.
